Baptism is one of the most tender and important moments in a family’s history. It is the day your child stars in his or her first official celebration and every second is filled with spontaneous smiles, emotion and hugs. At Panorama Photography, we know well how to capture this innocence with respect and an artistic eye.

Techniques for Unique Children’s Portraits

Baptism photography and children’s portraits are one of our greatest challenges, as they require the perfect combination of technical training and psychological approach. Our philosophy is based on capturing the truth of the child, away from staged poses that often cause embarrassment and pressure on our little protagonists.

At baptisms, we apply the technique of documentary photography. We choose lenses with a large aperture (f/1.4 to f/2.8) that allow us to work with the natural light of the church, creating that soft “fuzzy” background (bokeh) that highlights the sacredness of the moment. The use of a silent shutter is essential for us, so that we can go unnoticed and record the tears, smiles and spontaneous reactions of the parents and godparents without interrupting the mystery.

In children’s portraits, our approach changes: we get down to the child’s eye level. This perspective creates a direct connection with the viewer and makes the child feel comfortable in their space. We use fast shutter speeds (at least 1/500s) to “freeze” the children’s non-stop movement and energy. Our goal is not just a technically perfect image, but photos that will radiate your child’s personality, keeping the memory alive forever.

The Magic of Early Portraits

In our program, we consider it of utmost importance that your baby obtains the most beautiful and artistic portraits of his first big celebration. We know well that on the day of the mystery, the tension and fatigue of the moments often do not allow the child to show his calmest self.

We achieve this ideal result with confidence in the special photo shoot after the baptism. We suggest that this photo shoot be held three days later, after the child has washed away the oils of the baptismal bath and is now rested and happy. In an environment without time pressure, the purity of his face and his natural glow are uniquely highlighted through our lens.

At the same time, in the After photoshoot, we give special importance to the cinematic part. We create wonderful moments with videos, in which we include short and touching interviews from you, the parents and the godparents. These personal confessions and your wishes are incorporated with professional editing into the final baptism video, turning it into a priceless heirloom that will tell the story of your child in the warmest and most human way.
